I upgrade my camping gear any chance I get. The carabiners that came with my hammock were awkward and it seemed like a matter of time until the spring mechanism broke. In exchange for this review, TrekProof sent me some carabiners to replace the ones that came with my hammock. Not onliy are these a huge upgrade for my hammock, these will be used for a lot more as well.
These carabiners are incredibly sturdy and easy to use. The spring is sturdy and screw-down locking system ensures they won't come loose. With a 4,000# rating, your rope or chain will probably be the weakest link in whatever you're trying to secure or tow. I'm especially happy with them because they are lightweight, work well with my hammock, but can also be used in any other situation I'd need a heavy-duty carabiner. I wouldn't have trusted the carabiners that originally came with the hammock.
